ERP Pro Training Demos

Practice copies · sample data · nothing is saved to the live system

Learn SOMOS ERP Pro by doing it, with nothing at risk

Six hands-on demos reproduce the real screens with sample data. Follow the highlighted control, read the tips, and when you can do it here, you can do it on the live system. Progress is saved in this browser, so you can stop and come back.

Supervisor / QA, , and for sheets and revisions.

Questions people ask in the first week

I scanned a bin and nothing happened.

Click into the scan box first so it has focus, then scan the traveler barcode, not the part label. If the number is damaged, type the order number and press Enter. Open Scan from the menu on every station PC after a restart.

The process search shows "No processes match".

From a quote or traveler the search starts filtered to that part. Click the × on Part (optional) to search the whole library for the specification.

Can I change a quote after the sales order is created?

Change the quote, then create the sales order again from it. Editing the sales order's parts directly leaves the quote out of date, which confuses the next revision.

I started a station by mistake.

Click Hold on the Work Log, enter your badge and a comment, and tell your supervisor. The time is logged either way; the comment explains it.

What's the difference between Hold, Rework and Reject?

Hold pauses the order until a supervisor releases it. Rework sends it back through part of the route and keeps the earlier logs. Reject ends the job as failed. All three stop every station and need a comment.

Where do dropdown choices come from?

Settings → Option Sets. Part types, materials, coatings, charge types, ship methods and order statuses are all lists an admin maintains there. If a value is missing, ask an admin to add it; do not pick a near miss.

Who gets emailed when a status changes?

Only clients with Work order notifications switched On (client page → Notifications tab), and only for the statuses listed there. Settings → Alerts adds internal emails.

Can two people work the same order?

Yes, at different stations. Each station's Work Log is its own record with its own worker name. Two people at one station share one log; the one who clicked Start is recorded.

Light or dark?

Use the switch at the top. Auto follows your computer's setting. Station PCs in bright areas usually read better in Light; offices often prefer Dark in the evening.

Known problems on the live system (Oct 2026)

The demos show how each step should work. These are the places the live app currently differs; see the End-to-End QA Report for details.

  • Quotes: a quote with a part on it will not save ("partCount: Error converting value {null}"). Quotes with charges only do save.
  • Invoices: a charges-only sales order cannot be invoiced, and a Draft invoice has no Submit option. Invoice Settings must be filled in before any invoice can be created.
  • Scan: an unknown order number gives no message; the screen just stays on Ready.
  • Stations: readings can be left blank and the station still completes. Record them anyway; the demo requires them because the live app should.
  • Dates: records created after 5 PM Pacific drop out of the Today and 30-day filters until the next day. Use All if something is missing.
  • Inventory: stock can go negative; a usage larger than what is on hand is accepted.
  • Reports: the Backlog report does not return and can freeze the tab; the Orders report shows nothing.
  • Permissions: the Permissions settings page refuses even Admin users.

A normal day, by role

What each person opens, in order, on an ordinary shift. Use it as a checklist for the first week.

Scanner, keyboard and screen tips

Scanner
A USB scanner types the code and presses Enter. Click into the box first; a scan with no focus goes nowhere.
Which barcode
Traveler or order barcode on Scan; part label in Parts search; bin label in Inventory; badge to confirm Hold and Reject.
Enter
Submits the scan box and most search boxes. Tab moves between fields on every form.
Global search
The box in the top bar finds orders, parts and clients from any page.
Date chips
Today, 7 days, 30 days, This month, All. Lists default to 30 days; use All when something is missing.
Kanban
Work Orders, Travelers and Invoices have a Kanban view: one column per status, drag not supported, click a card to open.
⋮ menu
Top right of a record: Create, PDF, Settings, Delete. Delete asks first and is permanent.
Unsaved
An orange Unsaved pill means click Save. Leaving the page loses it; the browser warns you.
Light / dark
Top of this page. Auto follows the computer. Station PCs in daylight read best in Light.
